Hello! Welcome to The Gibbons House!
In this, my first ever post to the blog, I’ll do an introduction as to who I am and why I want to start blogging.
I get it, I’m just a stranger to you right now, and that’s weird and scary for the both of us. I hope in time that we can become friends.
My name is Tara, though I go by TJ most of the time. I am currently 26 and live in Herefordshire, West Midlands, England.
I was born in Hereford, so I am a country girl through and through. I cannot stand the big cities, or even towns for that matter. I live on the outskirts of the county, and avoid the city whenever I can!
I would describe myself as loving, passionate and outdoorsy, with an urge to always better myself and learn new things. I can be anxious, though I am only just coming to understand my anxieties, what causes them and methods of calming myself down. If you have any tips, please let me know what works for you!
I have a soul-dog called Anayah, a Rescue German Shepherd/Husky cross. I cannot begin to explain how much she means to me, she is my best friend and she goes everywhere with me. I will do a separate blog post about her, or else this entire introduction post will turn into an entire thing about her! I also have 4 rabbits, Cosmo, Artemis, Eclipse and Caspian. I love them all, despite the stress they cause with the escape attempts and the carnage that follows their every move.
My house is full of plants and crystals.
I work on a project farm where adults with physical and learning difficulties can participate in different areas. I am mostly based outside with the large variety of animals we care for. It’s the best job I have ever had. I was always jealous of people who had a job they loved, now I am one of those people. It never feels like work, I adore working with the animals, and I thrive off socializing with people. Don’t get me wrong, I need my own space and get exhausted after being with people, but I have been described as a social butterfly.
I battle some health issues, both physical and mental, each of which I will dive deeper into in further blog posts to share my experiences with them.
I have Dyslexia and Dyspraxia as well as Asthma, Joint Hypermobility Syndrome and some allergies. I am also in the process of being diagnosed with ADHD, I am on the waiting list to be seen by a psychiatrist.
At Hartpury College I studied Outdoor Adventure, for university I went to Worcester Uni and studied Outdoor Adventure Management and Leadership.
I have a lot of interests and hobbies, and I tend to dabble in them for a while and then come back to them later on. The joys of ADHD, I can’t stay interested in one hobby for long. The ones that I have been able to stick at regularly and for a long while are archery, climbing, viking reenactment and photography. I love gardening and have become much more invested in my garden this year, growing fruit and veg. Training Anayah is also a regular activity. As for things I do less regularly, I enjoy adult colouring books, baking and scrapbooking about my travels, which again I will do blog posts about further into my blogging venture! The two main places I have been are Ireland and Scotland in a Dispatch van.
The reason I want to start this blog is because I adore writing, and I always have. When I was a child, I would write a letter to my mum explaining how I felt about an argument we had or something I disagreed with because I felt that I could convey my feelings more accurately than if I spoke them to her. Writing slows my thoughts down, and allows me to re-write it if I make a mistake. You can’t take back words once spoken, but you can scribble the written word out and change your choice of words.
I have always been told that I have a gift with writing, and often have friends and family ask for me to check their CV’s or other important paperwork, and since I can remember I have written poems and stories.
So, this blog allows me to use my passion for writing, and share my experiences and stories in life, the things I learn and the places I see.
I am not a teacher, a preacher or a qualified life coach. I am simply a young woman living an adventurous and fulfilling life. So, come on and join me.
I am passionate about people and making contacts, so if you want to get in touch or suggest a blog post topic, please reach out and drop me a message!
